Why does God allow us to suffer?
My Question
Why does God allow us to suffer?
Word of Life
Dear beloved,
It can be difficult and painful to understand why God allows suffering in our lives. However, the Bible teaches us that trials can serve as tools to strengthen our faith, build our endurance, and draw us closer to God.
📖 James 1:2-4 (NKJV)
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
This passage reminds us that suffering teaches us endurance, which helps our faith grow stronger and more mature. God loves us and desires that we place our trust and dependence on Him through trials.
Furthermore, suffering allows us to experience God’s comfort and strength, equipping us to comfort others in their struggles.
📖 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
These verses show that suffering has a greater purpose beyond pain—it is part of God’s plan to deepen our faith and enrich our lives. Even in the midst of trials, may you trust in God’s goodness and love, knowing that He walks with you through every challenge.
In faith,
Your friend
Bible Commentary
📖 Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV)
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Romans 5:3-4 explains why we can find joy even in hardships. This passage teaches that trials help us develop endurance, which shapes our character and ultimately strengthens our hope.
It encourages us to adopt a positive attitude toward difficulties, recognizing that through suffering, we grow in perseverance. That perseverance refines our character and leads us to a greater hope. As we overcome challenges, we gain confidence in God’s promises and develop a stronger faith.
This verse reveals the secret to finding joy in hardships—by trusting that God is using our struggles to build our faith and hope. If we rely on His guidance and strength, we can endure trials with joy and see His purpose fulfilled in our lives.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I trust that You allow trials in our lives to deepen our faith and endurance. As Romans 5:3-4 reminds us, suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character brings hope. Thank You for using difficulties to draw us closer to You and refine our faith.
Lord, grant us the strength to trust in Your plan, even in times of hardship. Help us to remain patient and steadfast, knowing that You are working all things for good. May the hope You provide be a guiding light in our lives, and may our faith continue to grow through every challenge we face.
In difficult times, remind us of Your love and grace. Help us to find joy even in trials and to be a reflection of Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
